After eating some seriously good salmon in Alaska this summer, I came home looking to incorporate it into my regular dinner rotation. This recipe has been one of my weeknight go-tos. The salmon gets a quick sear, then finishes in a sticky maple-soy glaze that's ready in just about 20 minutes.
Chopped green onions and sesame seedsfor garnish, if desired.
Instructions
In a small measuring cup, whisk together ½ cup pure maple syrup, ¼ cup low sodium soy sauce, 1 teaspoon ginger paste or fresh grated ginger and 4 cloves garlic.
Use a paper towel to pat 4 skinless salmon filets dry. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a heavy-bottomed skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the salmon to the pan and sear each side for about 2 minutes. It’s okay if it’s not all the way cooked through but it should release from the pan easily.
Gently transfer the salmon to a plate.
Reduce the heat to medium and pour in the sauce mixture. Whisk continuously for about 2-3 minutes to thicken the sauce. Add the salmon back to the pan and spoon over the salmon for an additional minute or 2 to thicken the sauce further and finish cooking the salmon.
Sprinkle with Chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.
